History

Living Well was birthed out of the Power to Change Cafe that operated in Belfast city centre in 2002/3. The Power to Change Campaign was an all Ireland, media campaign that used testimonies about people’s changed lives to increase awareness of Jesus Christ in the community. In addition, the campaign effectively equipped ordinary church members through training workshops to become vibrant witnesses in their sphere of influence. Check out:

That cafe closed in May 2003 but a core of people continued to meet and pray and ask God "What next?" The answer came in early 2004 (God likes to keep us waiting- it teaches patience!) when we were lead to link with the film 'The Passion of the Christ'. We attempted to use the same building we had used for PTC but God had other plans! God showed us a building that was in a severely fire damaged state, that was in a prime position as it was opposite one of Belfast's major cinemas. A team of cleaners, painters, shopfitters and tidiers was put together and on the day the movie opened in Belfast we had The Passionate Cafe open.
God used that cafe to speak to many people and some met Jesus for the first time, others returned to their first love and others just had amazing coffee in a cool place as they listened to live music.
That cafe closed its doors on the 31st December 2004 having had a longer run than the movie by 31 weeks.
